March Results.

Played slightly less volume this month due to the Vegas trip, but still managed to hit 100,000 ring hands with a last day push at the 2 cent tables, just because I wanted 100k hands in each month so far.

The ring results for the month are below ($2400), tournaments ($700), rakeback ($100) and non-holdem games ($100), eeked out $3300 for the month and I have an uncollected value of about $1100 in FPPs earned this month.

I earned 22,840 VPP in March and am at 65,451 for the year.

March: ~$3,300.
February: ~$1,800.
January: ~$3,400.

Turbo Takedown cash.

I got 91/10,614 in the 5,000 FPP($80) Turbo Takedown which was a cash of $625. I got eliminated after 4.5 hours when I was in 78th chip position and I shove for 10BB with 99 in UTG+1 and got reraised shoved by a guy with AQs (IMO a bad play against my range of AQ+, 88+ there). I had stopped playing this tournament because I don't like tournaments, but the cash games had been going bad (3,000-hand 2.5 hour of breakeven at NL($0.10)(6-max) ... painful to even type that), so I gave it a try.

Would much prefered the $100,000 first prize or 5-figure score for top 8, but I will take it especially because I have only broken even the week since I returned from Vegas, largely due to a bad -$500 session at NL($1) where I lost AAvAK twice, was oversetted twice, got one-outered when I oversetted someone, combined with some bad play.

Vegas.

Just got back after a week in Vegas. A whole week without online poker, that must be some sort of record. In Vegas I was mostly there to do other things than play poker: I looked at 20+ houses for rental investments, I played other board games with 20+ friends from the internet, and visited a good friend of mine who lives there. Here is a summary of the ~10 hours of poker over 4 sessions in Vegas.

1-3 NL at the Palms, small win, no action.
1-3 NL at the Rio, small win, no action.
1-2 NL at the Flamingo, small win (flopped 3 sets in 1 hour), no action. Tried to meet vizer02 here unsuccessfully.
2-5 NL at the Venetian, small loss, massive action. The players here were worse than in all of the smaller limit games, however there was huge variance with almost every pot being raised and having multiple callers to the flops. I bought in for $500 even though it is a $200-$1,000 buyin, because that is the stack size I am most familiar with. Here are the 2 interesting hands:

I doubled up for ~$500 with A9s v QTo with the following line. We had a rare limped pot with 5 callers, and I am in late postion and flop an ace with a backdoor diamond flush draw on AJx board with 2 hearts. I bet some small half pot or something bet and it goes heads-up because I have a real tight image at this point. Turn comes a king of diamonds and the other guy leads into me for like half pot, and I just call suspicious of 2 pair or a straight because that is how they play. I river the nuts with a 4 of diamonds, and he bets again, I raise 3x, and he shoves for like $300 more like an idiot and I stack him.

Then I get stacked for ~$600 with KK v 95o with the following line. Some guy straddles to $10, 2 callers including 1 of the 2 "super-fish" that I am eyeballing, I reraise to $55 out of the small blind and I go heads-up to the flop with the super-fish. Flop comes 59Q with 2 clubs, I bet $80 and he raises to $180 and I just shove putting him allin due to the super-drawy nature of that board. The turn is an exciting Jack of clubs giving me 19 outs, but the river bricks. So I went from a 5-1 favorite, to a 7-3 dog, to a 11-9 dog. I left after one more orbit kind of pissed off. I take losses like this almost every hour I am playing online, but the higher stakes and the way slower pace of the game made me want to quit the session, and that was the last I played for the trip. Ended about even over the 4 sessions.

Extra juicy games today.

Played some NL($0.25)(6-max) and NL($1) full ring. I tightened my full ring game up considerably with much improved results. Here is an illustration of how people were playing.

Stacks: UTG with $100.00 UTG+1 with $130.10 MP1 with $166.85 MP2 with $65.20 MP3 with $100.00 BTN with $53.55 SB with $69.00 BB with $55.40 Dealt to MP2:4♠ 4♣ Preflop: 2 players fold. MP1 raises $1 to $2 Hero calls [$2] MP3 calls [$2] BTN calls [$2] SB calls [$1.50] BB calls [$1] Total folds this street: 2 Potsize: $12

Flop: 5♦ 4♥ 5♠ SB: checks BB: checks MP1: checks Hero bets [$7] 1 players fold. BTN raises $9 to $16 3 players fold. Hero raises $12 to $28 BTN raises $23.55 to $51.55 [ all-in ] Hero calls [$23.55] Total folds this street: 4 Potsize: $115.1

Turn: 5♣ River: 7♦ Results: nice 2% shot
Hero shows a full house, Fives full of Fours: 4♠ 4♣
BTN shows a full house, Fives full of Sevens: 7♥ 6♥
BTN collected $112.10 from pot

Here are a couple from (6-max).
AAvT6s AIPF. http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6974
AAvQJs AIPF. http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6975

Those were the 3 main bad beats, but it was profitable due to the many other times someone called with king high on the river, bluffed their whole stack into me, called off their whole stack with a gutshot or the numerous other major mistakes bad players make.

I have been following the hodge05: 235,000 hands in 10 days with $4,100 profit at NL($1) prop bet. It has inspired me to try and make more money from poker.

March 11 update.

By looking at my posts one might think I am losing this month, but I am not. I am however playing too much poker this month (50+ hours, MT ratio 17+) which is about 5 hours a day. I need to get back to the gym and get more sleep.

I had a big upswing day at NL($1), then a tortuous equally sized downswing at NL($1) over 3x as many hands. I then started 24-tabling 6-max for 1500+ hands/hour (25+ hands/minute) which was very silly, but fun like a video game. I also played a bunch of different levels to play some other people because I was getting really ticked off at the NL($1) full ring regulars who were 3-betting me every other hand I opened.

Interestingly my biggest winning hand and my biggest losing hand were KKvQQ and QQvKK respectively which both got allin on the turn unimproved. I have also earned ~50,000 FPPs ($800) this month.

River valuetowning myself.

Didn't think you had that. Full stack off with the second nuts.

Good play buddy, allin as 2-1 dog with no fold equity.

Didn't think you had that either.

Top pair no kicker is a great hand vs. a turn overbet.

I would be down more if I didn't stack a bunch of people drawing dead.

Awful session.

I had an awful NL($1) session with everything going wrong, lost $350.
Below EV ($100), timeouts with AK, QQ when I tried to stack the fast tables ($10?), froze my computer when I accidently clicked the instant hand history button ($20?), cold decks ($80) and bad play ($140?).

Bad play 1: $76, I stack myself QQvKK.
http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6927
Bad play 2: $64, I stack myself KKvAA.
http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6928
Cold deck 1: $42, AAvAKsv76s, where idiot calls $20 preflop, and then I don't pay him off.
http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6930
I lost a bunch of flips: $61 QQvAK, $24 QQvAK ...
Here is a fun hand where a fairly short stack limp calls a 3-bet cold with 98s and then hits. http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6932

Hopefully I do better later after dinner and TV.

Cashed in $75k freeroll.

I got 61/1629 for $120.

I made a donk play with A7s on my second to last hand open raising for about 2.5BB, then some tight guy shoves, but I am getting 2-1 and I figure I am probably a 2-1 dog, so I call hoping to get a big stack going. I lose to AKo of course. Was eyeballing the $12,000 for first place, not to move up in rank to win another $7.50 - $15.

Complaining works?

I guess complaining works if we are being results oriented (nice $800 in 5 hours). I complain a lot in my blog mostly as a release of the stressful aspects of poker. However, I think I have been doing it a little too much lately, as I am even getting on my own nerves. The best hand was holding today and I recovered $157 of missing allin EV.

I attribute part of the win to the fact that my 4 losses with AA and KK were all very small pots (4, 11, 8, 6 BB). The 3 biggest pots I won were, AAvKK AIPF, AAvKQ AIPF, and trips vs a flush draw AI on the flop (91, 70, 90 BB). All of the largest pots I lost were blind v blind.

Here is me getting owned TTvKK, for $50.
http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6873

Here is me getting owned 86v76, for $31.
http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6874

Here is an interesting hand, where I lose $30. http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6875 It is against Max Raises, who is playing 23/18, minraising every SBvBB, and almost always going for a blind steal OTB. He was sitting to my right on a couple of tables, so we had a lot of battles, and although I don't 3-bet much I started 3-betting him about 50% to try and make him stop. Anyhow, I flop TPTK and the NFD, and I was trapping him on the flop, was questioning if I was good on the turn, then I end up folding the river, because I was probably either already beat or got rivered. There is about a 20% chance he was just 3-barrelling spazzing out because I was pissing him off, but the worst possible river card for me came, so I folded to the shove.

Tired of running bad.

I can't help but looking, -$400 in allin EV at NL($1) this month, I am getting really tired of it.

2-outer, flop allin, $100+ pot.

Starting March 1st, watching all 2 outers, 9% shots when allin on the flop in pots over $100. It should be 10 winners for every loser...
The equity is between 7.5% and 14% depending on backdoor draws, average ~9%.
Will add them all in this post updating it as they come.

8% = 1/12, not 2/4.

Looking at pots >$100 over the last 2 days allin on the flop.
8% = 1/12 = 2 outs with 2 cards to come. Not 2/4!

I am actually scared to back-test this.

Welcome March.

I was in a real angry mood for a number of reasons and I "played" some NL($0.25). I am not sure if you could call it playing poker, I was mostly just being an angry spazz, raising 29% of the hands preflop over 3000 hands ... and yes that is in full ring.

I went about my day after that and came back and had a huge heater at NL($0.50). I flopped 5 flushes, a bunch of sets, and made quads 3 times. Here are a couple of my favorite hands.

QQvAA on QQA flop. http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6812
He was a short stacker, but I am sure it broke his heart nonetheless.
KKvQQ on KQ3 flop. http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6813
Here is me owning a guy by not putting any money on the river.
TTvKQ on JT48A. http://www.cardschat.com/hand/6814

Great start to the month. There is going to be less volume this month due to a trip to Vegas and heavy workload at work.
